Mr. Elliot F. Gerson
Mr. Elliot Gerson is Executive Vice-President of Seminars and Public Programs at the Aspen Institute and American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust, responsible for the administration of the US Rhodes Scholarships. His extensive background in strategic management, professional services, and executive management makes Mr. Gerson a great part of NCL’s team. He previously served as Deputy Attorney General of Connecticut, and issues and Finance Director for the Joe Lieberman for Presidential Campaign 2004. He was also the staff assistant to Secretary of Defense Harold Brown during the Carter Administration and later became Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare.
In the private sector, Mr. Gerson was President of Travelers Insurance Company and led the spinoff of the health insurance portion of the company and its subsequent merger with metropolitan Life Insurance Company, and the combined entity’s eventual sale to United HealthCare Corporation, where he was Executive Vice President. Mr. Gerson was later a founding CEO of an internet company that formed a joint venture between FHC Internet Services and Liberty Digital, Inc. which he later became President of in 2000.
Mr. Gerson is a summa cum laude graduate of Harvard University, and was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, where he earned an MA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Mr. Gerson later earned a JD from Yale Law School and served as Clerk to Justice Potter Stewart of the US Supreme Court. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relation, a trustee of the Shakespeare Theatre, and a Director of the International Biomedical Research Forum.
